The second issue of Bauhaus aims to demystify the idea that Tel Aviv is, outside of Germany, the most closely associated city with the Bahaus name. A close historical inspection instead reveals that the modern architecture of what is known as the White City has little to do with the Bauhaus and more to do with the Israelites seeking to see – between everything else – a positive Germany. This publication desires to present the Bauhaus in Israel in a new light, and offers a historical analysis through photographic documentation, essays and interviews considering the presence of European modernism in Israel.
