Quintessa Matrangra views the subject of her toilet paintings in two ways: first, as a symbol of contemplation or critique, and second, as an extension of the human anatomy. In her words, "The toilet functions as an in-between place – between our human selves and our houses, or our built surroundings. It's something of a portal where our body blends into the world."
