Der Greif (Augsburg) is an award-winning project for contemporary photography (and literature), founded in 2008, which presents itself as a print-publication, online-platform, curatorial team and joint project for and with photographers, authors, curators and photo-enthusiasts from all over the world. The artistic core and root of the project is the printed and ad-free magazine, based on an experimental and remarkable concept: Through open calls approx. 5000 photographs by 1500 photographers are submitted for each issue. The editors choose about 100 single photos and create re-combinations which transcend the images’ former contexts, making them part of whole new poetic stories and scenarios. Thus Der Greif combines and presents the works of photographers and authors of different origins in a holistic piece of art.
Issue 8 presents idiosyncratic combinations of both photographic images and poetry with a slightly extraterrestrial touch featuring the work of Ying Ang, Esther Teichmann, Marlous van der Sloot, Steven Zak, Carl Hancock Rux, Dani Pujalte, Hongzhe Liang, Aleksei Kazantsev, Emily Critchley, Juno Calypso, Jean Baptiste Grangier and many more.
100 pages, 24 x 33.5 cm, softcover, Der Grief (Augsburg).
