Perimeter x Focal Point Sharjah 2019

Perimeter is delighted to announce that we'll be returning to Sharjah, UAE, for the second instalment of FOCAL POINT, an annual art book fair presented by the Sharjah Art Foundation (SAF).

Running from November 14 to 16, 2019, FOCAL POINT will feature a variety of publishers from the region and around the world, including Valiz (Amsterdam), Kaph Books (Beirut), Kulte Editions (Rabat), The Book Society/mediabus (Seoul), Chimurenga (Cape Town), The Palestinian Museum (Birzeit), and of course, Perimeter Editions (Melbourne). The fair also includes a series of talks, screenings, a book launch, a lecture-performance, art projects, an open studio, and themed educational workshops, all taking place in the intimate setting of the heritage building Bait Obaid Al Shamsi in Sharjah’s Art Square. Originally built in 1845 as a residential house, its two levels and courtyard space were renovated in the late 1990’s and then again in 2017 to be used for artist studios and exhibition spaces. The location has often served as a venue for past Sharjah Biennials and SAF exhibitions.

As well as bringing a selection of past favourites, we will be presenting a host of new Perimeter Editions titles, including Archipelago (Laith McGregor), End Street (Noel McKenna), Lone Dove (Bec Parsons), Pelči Manor (Sarah Walker) and Walking in Place 2: Berlin (Mike Slack).
