Originally established by UK designer James Langdon in the Gallery for Contemporary Art Leipzig, the itinerant School for Design Fiction deals with the obscure genre of what is termed 'Design Fiction', wherein storytelling becomes the main task of design, exploring the potentialities of artefacts and the character of the culture which produced them. This book documents the curious role of storytelling in design, expanding on the founding of the school through a series of imagined scenarios, such as a drama at the printer for architect Augustus Pugin in 1836 and the first human trial of split brain surgery in California in 1961 among others.
